The Placenta has been used to help heal a woman during her postpartum for thousands of years. Your placenta is grown specifically for giving life to your baby. The same hormones and nutrients that help grow your healthy baby are especially beneficial for the postpartum mama by helping her heal after birth. Aside from the its healing aspects, I believe the placenta is sacred. I promise to focus on honoring the work it has done to nourish your baby, while preparing it to continue its work in nourishing you. I believe it is most important to give the placenta the greatest intent of healing energy during the preparation.
There are many ways to use your placenta for healing after delivery. It can be consumed raw or in capsules, tinctures, smoothies and even food dishes.
A woman's hormonal levels at the time of delivery are three times that of what they normally are in a non-pregnant state. Our bodies give us nine months to get used to the hormonal change, but upon delivery of the baby and placenta, that hormone level declines drastically. Returning the hormonal level back to our non-pregnant state. This could be why many women suffer from the so-called "baby blues". Ingesting your placenta will help re-introduce and balance your hormones, increase energy, enhance milk production, replenish depleted iron levels, decrease postpartum bleeding and help the uterus return to its pre-pregnancy size faster.
When your placenta is made into a tincture or capsules, it will benefit you long-term. Tinctures and Capsules can keep indefinitely when stored properly and will be a great help when your menstrual cycle returns and even throughout menopause.
Women and their families notice a marked improvement in overall feelings of happiness and well-being when taking placenta capsules. They have reported fewer emotional issues and enjoy a faster, more pleasant postpartum. The role of the placenta does not stop at birth. It is filled with feel-good hormones and healing nutrients, so it makes perfect sense to safely welcome them back into your system during your postpartum period!
There are two methods to choose from when encapsulating the placenta, Steamed and Raw. The steaming is inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) a method that has been used for centuries. In TCM, our "life-force", is called Jing, and each time a mother births her baby, she loses Jing and heat. The TCM method of placenta preparation brings back the "Jing and heat"that her body lost during the birthing process. The placenta is gently steamed, then dehydrated and placed into capsules. During Raw preparation method, the placenta is not steamed and goes directly into the dehydrator in its raw state. Unfortunately, there are no scientific studies proving one method is better than the other. But those who choose the Raw method think it to be a better option as they believe the placenta will retain all of the nutrients that could be lost during the heating process of the TCM preparation. The choice is yours =)
The chemicals and hormones that give the Placenta its healing properties are...
Gonadotrophin: the precursor to estrogen, progesterone and testosterone Prolactin: promotes lactation Oxytocin: for pain and bonding; produced during breastfeeding to facilitate bonding of mother and infant. In pharmaceutical form this is a very addictive drug because it promotes a feeling of connectedness with others. Thyroid stimulating hormone: boosts energy and helps recovery from stressful events Cortisone: combats stress and unlocks energy stores Interferon: stimulates the immune system to protect against infections Prostaglandins: anti-inflammatory Hemoglobin: replenishes iron deficiency and anemia, a common postpartum condition Urokinase inhibiting factor and factor XIII: stops bleeding and enhances wound healing Gammaglobulin: immune booster that helps protect against postpartum infections

Dream catchers are one of the most fascinating traditions of Native Americans. The traditional dream catcher was intended to protect the sleeping individual from negative dreams, while letting positive dreams through. The positive dreams would slip through the hole in the center of the dream catcher, and glide down the feathers to the sleeping person below. The negative dreams would get caught up in the web, and expire when the first rays of the sun struck them. They also represent strength, unity, and the circle of life. *Please allow extra time for delivery of the dreamcatcher, investment may vary based on the size of the umbilical cord $45-$60, Cost will be calculated prior to start of project*
